  • Nail File
  • Nail Polish Remover or Acetone
  • Cuticle Sticks
  • Nail Buffer
  • Glass Bowl
  • Cotton Balls
  • Aluminum Foil Strips
  • Hand Moisturizer
  • Petroleum Jelly
  • Thick Layer of Old News Paper
  • Small table or Any Surface You Can Work On

Once you have assembled all the necessary items you will use to remove your acrylic nails, then you are ready to start with the cleaning process.

1.       Put all the supplies you will need on the table or the surface you are working on. Make sure you spread a thick layer of news paper on the surface to avoid damaging it during the process.

2.       Clip the acrylic nails as short as you can. The shorter the nails, the less acrylic you have to remove.

3.       If you are using a polish remover:

a.       Fill the glass bowl with nail polish remover.

b.      Apply a coating of pertroleum jelly on around your nails. Be careful not to get any on your nails.

c.       Soak your fingers on the glass bowl for 15 to 20 mins.

d.      Remove your hands from the bowl and peel off the acrylic nails. Don’t force it if the acrylic nail resists. Just soak it again for another 5 mins before trying to remove it again.

If you are using acetone:

a.       Soak ten cotton balls with acetone.

b.      Use the foil to wrap the cotton balls on your acrylic nails.

c.       Keep the cotton balls on your nails for 20 mins.

d.      Remove the aluminum foil and scrape off the acrylic nails one by one.

4.       If there are any acrylic nail residues on your fingers, you can use a nail buffer to buff it off.

5.       Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any chemical residues or petroleum jelly.

6.       Apply moisturizing cream on your hands and massage it well. The cream will help replace the moisture lost from the acetone or nail polish remover.

7.       Regularly apply the cream on your fingers and hands at least three times a day for at least a week after the procedure.

To prevent any damages on your nails and your fingers, try to avoid applying acrylic nails on your fingertips continuously. Give it a rest and let it breathe once in a while. Also, remember to maintain nail and hand care to keep your hands healthy.
